1. Overview

MentorMate Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and store your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, profile photo, professional headline, bio, location, and skills when you register.

Authentication data: information from Google, LinkedIn, or email/password sign-in, including OAuth tokens and LinkedIn profile identifiers.

Session data: booking details, session times, payment amounts, reviews, and messages exchanged through the Platform.

Payment data: processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We store Stripe customer IDs and transaction references.

Usage data: pages visited, features used, device type, and browser information for improving the Platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: operate and improve the Platform; match mentors with mentees; process payments; communicate about sessions and account activity; enforce our Terms of Service; comply with legal obligations.

4. Information Sharing

We share information with: other users (your public profile is visible to all users); Stripe for payment processing; Firebase/Google Cloud for authentication and data storage; law enforcement when required by Australian law.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers. While primary servers may be located outside Australia, we ensure all data handling complies with the APPs. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and implement access controls to protect your information.

6. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to: access your personal information; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and data; opt out of marketing communications; lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Analytics cookies are used only to improve Platform performance.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain transaction records for 7 years as required by Australian tax law. All other personal data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

9. Children

MentorMate is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or Platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
